Bella Tunno Gives 144,754 Meals and Keeps Team Employed

THE MISSION-BASED BRAND WAS FEATURED ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA AS PROOF THAT WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH KEEP GOING

Bella Tunno was slated to be featured on Good Morning America’s Deals and Steals Solution Based segment on April 2, 2020. Not only are their products the answer to mealtime mess but more importantly, they are a part of the solution to end childhood hunger; for every product sold, one meal is donated to one child in need. When the company committed to the GMA feature, they had no idea of what was to come, and how badly it would be needed. The sales outcome was wildly successful, honoring an invitation back on April 13, 2020. Through the combination of features, they were able to give 144,754 meals to their partner - Feeding America, keep their team employed and preserve the security of their business.

“This pandemic has been by far the biggest challenge we have faced in 15 years,” says Buelow. “Our sales came to a halt overnight. Our team is like a family, so we are doing everything we can to keep our entire team employed and covered with benefits. When the challenges get big, a company’s true character is revealed. We are continuing to give one meal for every product sold and donated $10,000 to Feeding America’s COVID-19 fund. It’s easy to do the right thing when business is going well, but it's critical to do the right thing when times get tough.”

In such a time of uncertainty and devastation, it is so humbling and inspiring to see a nation come together to support one another. “The current climate is a big reminder of the importance of community,” says founder, Michelle Tunno Buelow. “We live in a world that allows us to do so much on our own. Groceries can be delivered to our doorstep. Uber can take us to the airport, so our family can stay home, Alexa can answer our questions so we don’t have to 'phone a friend.' But, when times get really tough, and they certainly are at this point, we are reminded of how much we really need each other and that it’s the people in our lives that really matter. We need to support our friends and neighbors and community.”

Bella Tunno exists to feed hungry children - The COVID-19 Pandemic has caused the need for meals to grow exponentially. Their partner, Feeding America, needs $1.4 billion in addition to their typical 6-month costs to cover the increased needs of the next 6 months. School closures, rising unemployment and rising poverty due to quarantine and stay-at-home orders will disproportionately impact people already at risk of hunger and are projected to result in an estimated additional 17.1 million people experiencing food insecurity, an increase of 46% in the USA. Bella Tunno remains committed to be part of the solution to end childhood hunger and will continue to make strides no matter the situation.
